As the DJ top 100 awards/chart is in voting just wondered what you think makes a good DJ good?

Was thinking and I really don't know, you have things like Skill, Music Choice, adaptation, n how they work crowd but what do you think it is?

Got a local dj who can dj, but doesn't vary his music enough, so same shit different day sorta stuff, is he a gd dj, or does that make it a bad dj?

For me I find the transition skills to be the main thing. When I grew up doing this I believed in the idea that a good DJ was one who could mix a bunch of tracks and make the crowds not realise. Along with this a DJ needs to have a good sense of what tracks to play, and when, though. It is a combination of the two.

If a DJ can mix fantastically but the tracks arent great - you dont have the best night of your life

A good Dj in my eyes, has the ability to play the tunes that everyone wants to hear, in the right order with the right mixing. Obviously diff people wanna hear diff things hence we all like diff DJ's! I love Jules because every record he puts on is equal to me having chosen it myself, I like the same tunes. On top of that he is a nice man, who is always very friendly to me altho he's well within his rights to find me irritating!! Mostly tho it's the tune choice 1st then the mixing skill, then the ability to crowd please.

A Think A Good DJ Is One Who Can Please The Whole Crowd And Not Just Sections Of The Crown At Different Times, If He/She Plays The Right Songs Then The Crowd Will Go Crazy! Also The Mixing Skill Has To Be Exellent Aswell, Can You Imagine In A Big Club, The Songs Playing Rite To The Final Beat, Going Silent For A Few Seconds, Then The Next Song Starting ! ! That Would Be Torture ! !

80% is tune selection / entertainment
20% is mixing ability

In my experience, punters would much rather listen to top tunes with not every single mix nailed on, than a beautifully crafted, flawlessly mixed load of garbage tunes
