My area is in the process of launching a radio station and I want to contribute with my trance style. At the moment they are in the process of funding the station but they are wanting some short clips from us young'uns of presenting skills. I will simply record a quick 15 minute mix or so and just do my talking jazz over the top but I have no microphone to do this.
I will most likely need to buy a microphone of my own but Im not willing to splash the cash incase I never need to use it again. I assume Amazon would have some (Ive not checked yet) and I know its a very reliable site, but which microphones are reliable and also cheap at the same time?

I went out and bought a tidy little fellow for £25 from Maplin. Solid metal, 3m cable, and a clay stand ... so it was quite a good buy. I have tested it and it works marvellously but at that time I had a recording issue. Things have been tweaked so I await another test with it.
Going to be hosting some events in my area soon so it will come in handy. I even have a microphone jockey to do the talking for me :D

Get a Shure SM58. Its kinda the industry standard wired mic, and has a warm clear sound to it.

What I have looks pretty much exactly like that, but I guess the magic comes from within the microphone doesn't it lol.

you will need a broadcasting mic. Not just a normal mic. Or a Condenser mic.

the switch on the sm 58 gets a fuzzy crackle sound after a couple of months.
