Hi there,
I'm just about to convert my vinyl collection to CD, ('bout time),
What settings should I use...do I save MP3 or Wav? I'm using Adobe Audition...or can you just save mp3 with Adobe Audition?

When DJs download...is it mostly mp3?
Can a newish home hi-fi system play a WAV file??

Any recommendations for a Pioneer CDJ (besides the CDJ 1000 - too expensive), CDJ 800 or CDJ 400?...what would suffice? I think both have a looping facility...

sorry for the slew of questions!

ta,
joe

Recording in wav is technically better, but then its a matter of space to store them because they are such large files. Due to this DJ's always use 320kbps MP3 files, this way you keep the high quality as best as possible.

Pioneer CDJ's ... I am very fond of the CDJ 200's, they are what I have on my software, but I think, if I could, I would go for the 400's because they are newer and I assume will be better.

the best format to use from a production point of view would be wave.
once you have recorded them you can polish them up with adobe.
if you use mp3 be sure to record them in 320 as while there is still a bit of compresion present its not as bad as 128 or 192.
but its up to you realy.
how much of a audio quality junky are ya ?

what it also depends on is if your gona be re-opening your files for editing.........mp3s each time there opened and saved the quality degrades slightly, unlike wave which doesnt.
